OUR IMMENSELY POWERFUL BRAINS

As it seems to happen (too) often this morning I woke up in a horrible mood, I started to think that maybe it’s time to fully erase from the internet my blog that’s full of the crap that my frustrating life has been offering on a “silver platter”, BUT I immediately thought to “the story” of my deal made with Jesus, who had said that for me to return to live was truly going to be painful – forget about the fact that I had understood that no pain can’t be taken care of with little aspirin or Tylenol- therefore I decided to ask to the only other person – with my own dad (Saint Gianfranco) how my having said to have made a deal directly with Jesus was communicated…..given that my dad never spoke a word in English and my very work friend spoke no Italian at all, so how could I say to both in two different languages the exact same thing?????

Since my dad is already in heaven, I contacted with my (usual) determination my friend who pretty much explained in as much detail as possible that I used both languages for each of them (so much for TBI generated aphasia) right after both my dad and my friend compared among each other (I guess using body language) what I had said, and the result is that I truly said the exact same thing to both.

Given that working on my blog allows my mind to reduce the steam pressure that I keep accumulating, I decided that this blog – no matter its enormity – is going to keep helping me to “reduce my internal pressure”.

In fact I’m going to start a “new” series about the immense (and still completely unknown) capacities/abilities/powers of what’s (mainly) between our two ears, to move on to the mind – that nobody still knows where it’s located – some say that the brain and the mind as being one and the same thing. Doctors, scientists, and other highly trained persons share this belief. People from all walks of life use the words "brain" and "mind" interchangeably. In reality, they are two separate and distinct creations. However the soul or atman, credited with the ability to enliven the body, was located by ancient anatomists and philosophers in the lungs or heart, in the pineal gland (Descartes), and generally in the brain. So, there you have it, we are trying to figure out things that people knew very well at least 6.000 years ago.

MY SINGULARITY

My survival and encounter with Jesus Christ, together with my agreement, has put me in the singularity field, that like I’ve always done in my life, puts me in the position of taking advantage of it.

I cannot put yet here the pictures of the X-rays that were done to my left leg, but believe me when I say that they are horrific!! – a metal plate on the exterior part of my left knee fixed in place with 4 screws, a steel bar along my entire femur, kept in place by few screws and 4 horrendous steel screws (about 6 inches long each) to keep in place the femur head to the back, I wonder what will happen when I’ll go through a metal detector like the ones in the airports….,.

Anyway, I put here an inspiring piece of the Matrix movie where a young boy explains how using the power of the brain to bend a spoon.

Based on this I decided that the superior strength of my mind (regardless that it’s injured) I’m soon going to make all of the metal in my leg be removed, since there’s going to be no more need to keep it in.

I know too that the meaning of singularity is very new and current; therefore I put here few links to sites that explain it better than I can do.

COULD IT BE??

I post here today about the Griffith University in Australia that's trying to have their own FDA pass a law about the use of Perispinal Enbrel for neurological recovery from TBI and I can only hope and pray that once this will become legal to do in that country that's so very closely connected with the USA.

I recently found that someone else is working on the same project and I find it funny that Greece the country is the first domino that's going to start the domino effect for all the other European countries in the following sequence Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Italy, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, Finland, Cyprus, Estonia, Malta, Slovak, Slovenia, Litany, Latvia and Germany last. So while it's going to be challenging as it was in the 70ies and 80es to sell American products in EU due to the exchange rate EU/$$ I fear that it's going to take a real miracle for our FDA to approve this Enbrel therapy in the USA.

GOTCHA

I've been seeing MD by the dozen since my TBI but none of them ever even suggested that my brain damage might be close to the damage usually seen to the brain of a victim of stroke to the heart, in my (broken) logic and mind it makes sense that when the brain doesn't receive its normal oxygenated blood circulation plenty neurons die, just like when too much blood pressure is given by blood accumulation in specific areas of the brain (motor cortex in my case) I truly cannot believe that a medicine illiterate like myself can figure out all independently that as far as damage to the brain there's no difference between too much pressure of blood and too little quantity of it, the result of dead neurons is identical.

I'm now planning to talk about already existent (and FDA approved) medications to treat something (stroke) very well known and extensively treated by decades already.

In thinking about this, I remember to have asked few months ago to be treated like if I had Alzheimer (brain inflammation like TBI) but given that my suggestion had been turned out again I never tried this.

Given that I now have a woman as neurologist I'm hoping that my "Eve theory" will make its effect and I'll receive a very common and very used medication to help my injured brain recover its plasticity (after a 10 years long forced nap).

Given that my organ brain has already somewhat healed by itself, don't be surprised if - sooner than later - I'll be doing the double W = walk + work.

MY MIRACLES AND NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

In March, April and June of last year I posted about what I believe the miracles that I received for my TBI.

I've said here plenty times already that a miracle is simply what no science can explain (yet) but I feel it important to list them here anyway, to save the search of those posts:

as I came out of my 2 months long coma I told to both my father (Saint Gianfranco) and best work friend (Pat) that I was still alive for having made an agreement with Jesus Christ to remain alive - no matter the pain - for my love for my children/treasures
my mother cannot stop telling to me that the fact that I could fluently speak both Italian and English, just like before my accident is a true miracle
none of the Cottage hospitals neurologists ever understood the reason why the hemiparesis on my left body side hasn't taken away any epidermal sensation , to the point that for several months I had a nurse come in my room in the middle of the night to touch my left foot/leg and ask me where I was being touched, if fingers were being used to touch me, or the entire hand and how it felt to me

What I can only call a damnation (opposite of miracle) is that the unique way my brain is injured resulted in a very unreal assessment of the use of my brain's abilities in the use (management) of my money, my logic and ability to think of business issues through the constant relationship with both former important sales operations and my former employees (who still contact me with business related questions they have in their working activities) By making a very simple Google search on this topic, I put here below - as usual - few links to websites that talk about the helpfulness and potential harm that can result from neuropsychological assessment.

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α)

My unending research has taught what follows to me and this truly makes me wonder what reason might exist for none of my MD to never have even mentioned to at least (key medical word) TRY to be treated with ANY of the plenty TNF-alpha meds (Humira, Simponi, Cimzia and the forbidden Enbrel)

Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) was discovered more than a century ago, and its known roles have extended from within the immune system to include a neuro-inflammatory domain in the nervous system. Neuropathic pain is a recognized type of pathological pain where nociceptive responses persist beyond the resolution of damage to the nerve or its surrounding tissue. Very often, neuropathic pain is disproportionately enhanced in intensity (hyperalgesia) or altered in modality (hyperpathia or allodynia) in relation to the stimuli. At time of this writing, there is as yet no common consensus about the etiology of neuropathic pain - possible mechanisms can be categorized into peripheral sensitization and central sensitization of the nervous system in response to the nociceptive stimuli. Animal models of neuropathic pain based on various types of nerve injuries (peripheral versus spinal nerve, ligation versus chronic constrictive injury) have persistently implicated a pivotal role for TNF-α at both peripheral and central levels of sensitization. Despite a lack of success in clinical trials of anti-TNF-α therapy in alleviating the sciatic type of neuropathic pain, the intricate link of TNF-α with other neuro-inflammatory signaling systems (e.g., chemokines and p38 MAPK) has indeed inspired a systems approach perspective for future drug development in treating neuropathic pain. Who's going to be the lucky one to treat me and be forever in heaven??

OUR BODY CAN REPAIR EVEN THE BRAIN WHEN INJURED

The Ph. D. in fear Enrico told few things to me that I do agree upon, especially those regarding the medicine "science" (guessing science) still completely unable to repair, heal or cure anything that isn't right in our body. Among the good examples he gave to better clarify this idea was the one of the bone that once broken all we can do is to immobilize in a cast and hope that our body will reconnect the broken parts correctly and in a reasonable amount of time (usually 40 days). This is why I believe so much in the Perispinal Enbrel, nothing more than an inflammatory reducer that gives back to our brain its plasticity, simply because it isn't inflamed anymore.

I put here links and Youtubes that regard this self-healing ability of our body even regarding the most complex organ in the universe, or the human brain. I think that to be punished with conservatorship for having stated that the brain is just an organ in our body is way excessive and God knows how much I'd love to "teach a lesson" to that Enrico, however since I'm the survivor of a defining NDE, I know (and will soon post) what happens after death, so I have no need to get my hands dirty, Enrico's mind will take care of everything, forever.

MY BET AGAIN

I'm now making a bet with myself (and my treasures) that my body is soon going to heal itself (in the brain) that means not only that I'm going back to work in my dear footwear industry, hopefully working again with Angel M. (a man I can learn very much from for different reasons) but I'm going to return to be the always present and loving father and husband that the force of the mind of someone else had destroyed (much more to come here about this......).

Given that I inherited a very strong force of mind (mostly from my Lingiardi family) that does inspire many of my blog visitors and readers, I do know and I'm very aware of the self-healing capacities of my own body, that has been helping me very much in every single injury I ever had in my life (that of an athlete who never stepped back in any situation for any reason).

As I always do, I put here below few links dedicated to our body self-healing power, but I also want to make it very clear that our brain truly is an organ in our body and as such - even if the medicine still has no "cures" to take care of it when injured - it's going to be the body by itself that can heal the injury, which explains why I'm (still) so interested in at least trying the perispinal Enbrel, given that all it does is to reduce the neuronal inflammation that can last for decades after the initial injury and that by doing so, it can re-activate the brain natural plasticity, always present until alive.

BACK PAIN

I've been literally shocked to see and experience the complete fear and deep ignorance by normally very good and experienced MD about the use of Etanercept (Enbrel) to treat and get rid of the pain at my back that's been torturing me 24/7 for more than 6 years.

Now I'm about to go to a pain center that specializes in pain reduction and treatment

and here again I'm starting to see that this specialized center for pain reduction too has absolutely no idea nor intention to possibly use little Etanercept for my back pain.

As I always do, I put here below few links to medical and news stories about this specific use of this med, while I'm terrified to experience the deep laziness with ignorance shown by professional MD to learn about something that a complete ignorant in medicine as I am can easily find in the Internet I really pray our God to make it possible for me to be treated with at least for my back pain, of course my hopes remain all directed towards receiving the "famous" perispinal Enbrel treatment about which I filled my blog with articles and medical examples, but sadly (for me and my family) it's going to take either a miracle or a woman president before this will be approved by the FDA here.

So enjoy these articles for dumb people like me and pray for some miracle to happen so that I can receive this treatment for back pain (already FDA approved since years) so that I'll walk=work again and rejoin my dear family.

NOW IT’S ONLYTHE B27

No matter that I've been complaining for almost (only) 10 years of a terrible pain at my back in the exact same location on a 24/7 basis, no matter the position of my body (sitting, standing and laying in bed) none of my MD has been able to at least guess that it might be AS, but now my latest expert MD has suggested for me to have a simple blood test done to see if I have the B27 (B27 is a blood test to look for a protein that is found on the surface of white blood cells. The protein is called human leukocyte antigen B27 (HLA-B27). Human leukocyte antigens (HLAs) are proteins that help the body's immune system tell the difference between its own cells and foreign, harmful substances) as you can see from the websites I link here and the usual Youtube video that it shouldn’t be very complicated for any MD to know when a patient is affected by this condition, I must however say that I have been under the care of 5 different MD over 8 years of time who all have been incapable to say that my never-ending pain might be from the Ankylosing Spondylitis, only this last one recommended for me to have a specific blood test done to say if I've really been suffering for such a long time from this condition.

Trying to look at things under a “pink light” (as my best caregiver always tells me to do) I can only say that I’m lucky to live in a time when this condition can be proven beyond reasonable doubts with a blood test, nobody wants to risk making an educated guess just based on specific symptoms that haven’t changed in “just 8 years”.

So now I’m glad to take the risk to be proven wrong by chemistry, because IF I’m right…..I’m afraid I can’t tell…..

BIG PHARMA AGAIN

The day before my 51st birthday (5/9th) I posted an explanation to my previous use of the “not yet” term regarding the use of the (patented by the US patent, CA office) Enbrel medication for neurological recovery (i.e. from Alzheimer and TBI.

I introduced there the concept of the Big Pharma (medications industry) being against the FDA approval of the med named Etanercept or Enbrel for neurological recovery when administered by perispinal injection inside an injured brain, simply because many billions of $$$ profits would be immediately lost in meds and in a very wide range of support activities done by companies in several fields if this new use would be approved.

I’m going to try to make an example of what I specifically mean:

The Big Pharma earns billions of $$$ selling its medications for neuronal activation for patients of Alzheimer
Very much of this money goes to the presidential and political support, that’s expected NOT to support, or forget about the real fact that by using the inexpensive Enbrel the conditions I just mentioned would simply disappear
Big Pharma correctly says that by doing so with the Enbrel not only they would lose billions in earnings and profits, but also a big chunk of our bad (already) economy would be suffering even more by losing entire industries built around the support of very old and very injured people

Of course, as a Ph.D. in economics I can’t say that this isn’t right, especially in a time of deep financial and economic crisis as we have been in (since too long). However, what if it was possible to put back to work all these very experienced (because older) people who would only want to get back to what they were doing before something disabling happened to them?

Can’t anyone agree with me that the USA would have hundreds of very experienced high-level managers be happy to replace their disability checks (from the government=taxes) with real salaries?

Before posting this slap in the face to President Obama and the Rep. + Dem. I’m going to get in trouble, but you, my readers think of what I just said and act accordingly(Delio, Paule, etc...?). And when are you, or Michele going to help me with my pain elimination???

ABOUT ALZHEIMER

The fact that the “inventor” of the use of Enbrel (TNF-alpha) for TBI recovery has been trying for years to go after the Alzheimer industry (revenues of several billions) without trying to focus on what I’ve been calling the epidemic of this new millennium (TBI), no matter how many times I tried to warn him about it, this explains – I’m afraid – the reason why the FDA still hasn’t been given the chance to approve it for TBI recovery.

Of course this is all and only a matter of money, or the billions of dollars for the treatment of the always increasing population of Alzheimer’s patients vs. the irrelevant increase in sales of the couple of shots needed to successfully give neurological recovery to victims of TBI even decades after their initial brain insult (watch video at my post on March 4th this year).

What the very successful and enriched Tobinick doesn’t seem to grasp (even if I tried to warn him by email several times already) is that to go after a billionaire industry like the one of the medications for Alzheimer is about suicidal, in fact the maker of the Etanercept or Enbrel (Pfizer in Germany, Amgen here) can’t even think to spend the very much money needed to have its Enbrel re-purposed for TBI recovery when the only result would only be just an added cost to their bottom line.

On November 13^th of last year I had wrote and published here a post titled “Patriotism and Capitalism” on this same topic (I guess Erik should know by now that I’m not as dumb as he had assessed me to be).

I hope that this makes it clear the reason why I’ve been sending messages for the support of this repurposing to our President Obama and the whole Congress for months because this can only happen if someone like our own President elect can spend (our) money to support this.

I was hoping that since he gave his support to both stem cell research and human brain mapping he could understand that by supporting this re-purposing he would go into the history like Madame Curie for defeating the terrible epidemic of this historical time, but then again “who knows?” Sadly not me.

MEDICAL SENSE

I admit (and did before) that I never had any interest in learning, making sense and/or understand anything in what I’m calling the “guess-science”, for the most part I follow what my “common logic” tells me what makes any sense.

I have, however been in email contact both with important bio-engineers and even people at the FDA who for their own reasons simply tell me that they are Mr. I, or Mr. B or whatever, I guess because they never want to risk to be (mis-)quoted in what they say in anything they decide to give their inputs.

So what I’m writing here comes from one of these “nobody” involved in the TBI recovery research and given that it makes sense to me I quote it almost literally (and in Italic).

I explain something basic to you about disease, in particular complex diseases having to do with brain injury or degeneration. The outcome of a particular stroke or TBI event, typically kills brain cells within a central zone, and rather than killing cells in the outer zone, or penumbra, does inhibit their activity. What Enbrel seems to be doing is to be removing this inhibition, most likely on synapses because of the rapidity of action. This has not been approached by previous treatments. No current treatment is going to bring back the dead cells, which is why there is much interest in stem cell research, which aspires to do this.

Enbrel, on the other hand, appears to remove cell inhibition in the penumbra. How well someone responds, is determined by how big the central, as distinct from the outer, zone, is. If a large central zone is damaged, Enbrel outcomes appear to be telling to the field that the outer, inhibited zone is often larger than previously suspected.

This type of unknown aspect of many of these diseases is why outcomes vary. It is a principle applying to all conditions in which research that is more basic is required, but it rarely is looked at properly because funding in general is scarce. A positive outcome in rheumatoid arthritis, the biggest use to which Enbrel is put, is that about 70%, for essentially the same reason.

And this is why my injured logic and intelligence can’t let me stop hoping that sooner than later somebody will figure out that this “off-label” use of Enbrel can truly save our country from its financial difficulties and put back to work the (too) many victims of TBI who can’t wait for the already existing solution to be widely adopted by our government and the entire US guess-science population.

Sadly too many MD have already attempted to give logic to their refusal to treat me, but if anyone might have a word in my support I ask to please leave their comments.

I’M NOW TAKING FISETIN

More and more attention in the field of drug discovery has been focused on the neuro protection of natural compounds from traditional medicinal herbs. Cerebral ischemia is a complex pathological process involving a series of mechanisms, and a framework for the development of neuroprotectants from traditional herb medicine is a promising treatment for cerebral ischemia. Natural compounds with the effects of anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation (like the TNF-alpha?), calcium antagonization, anti-apoptosis, and neurofunctional regulation exhibit preventive or therapeutic effects on experimental ischemic brain injury. According to the pharmacological mechanisms underlying neuroprotection, natural products were evaluated from traditional medicinal herbs that exhibit protective effects on ischemic brain injury and characterized the promising targets.

I’m sorry to say that my superior intelligence, determination and infinite drive to improvements, helped me figure out that I can receive the above-mentioned benefits simply by taking the natural and vegetarian Fisetin, that isn’t even very expensive.

I’d like to make the bet that by now with all of my researches and studying of ways to overcome my disabilities I’ve become much smarter and more brilliant than any of my guess-scientists, who never seem to be able to propose anything innovative or simply new/different.

While I keep suffering from the refusal of my angels to live with the disabled myself, I do enjoy my superior logic and intelligence as the product of my forced solitude and truly hope to soon show in practice how correct I’ve always been on everything!
