NEW MOVIES REVIEW

My overall impression getting to watch the movies listed here is that humanity (us) has gotten superlatively interested in the (human) brain and has started not only to study its potential but very much more complex to map how it’s made and how it works (still decades away). For this reason I feel a physical urge to talk about these movies because they take an almost science-fiction approach to what we may be able to do when the right conditions will present themselves.
I must say that watching them, I’m surely happy NOT to be a neurologist, simply because it seems very clear that we truly still know less than nothing of the organ we all have since millions of years.
Not only that, but we have no idea either of the way we can use its (our) powers to damage others. I have formed the idea that new movies like these were inspired by movies like Lucy and Limitless – made and posted here earlier - that portrayed in very good ways what someone with the possibility to use 100% of the brain capacities can do, imagine in example if people with capacities like those were part of our army…..we wouldn’t have any enemy anymore because eliminated before they could even think to attack the USA. But now, please let me talk about some personal thoughts, before jumping into these movies.

Point one. It’s in fact my firm belief that my accident was fully provoked by the man who owns the company I had been working at, given that the great president of his subsidiary in the USA, was about to retire, due to his age…….
Well, when I presented my resignations the company owner left the hotel room where we were staying, the owner said that it was best for him to leave “before I offend God”.
As a matter of fact I was his perfect candidate to replace the retiring president, I’m Italian, I already knew plenty employees in the Italian headquarters and as a result three different “high level” experienced top managers coming from other “top level” companies in the ski industry have attempted to take the position that in the eyes of the owner “was mine”, but none of them could stay there for more than one winter season (mostly because they didn’t speak Italian).

Point two. I was also having some marital issues with my Queen at that time, in fact right before I accepted the job in Santa Barbara we were seeing a woman – whom my Queen had found – a psychologist specialized in issues between married couples (marriage counselor, relationship therapist), if I remember correctly the complaint was coming from my Queen who couldn’t stand the fact that nothing ever was a problem for me and that everything had always been very easy for me to take care of, all by myself, In fact when I was working at TEVA I had put my eyes on a young designer who looked very much like my Queen when she was much younger and she was going through an uneasy  divorce.
She lived in a house in front of the Santa Barbara fairgrounds that were very easy to see from the front yard, she had a jacuzzi too that almost all of the party participant used – except myself with the excuse that I hadn’t brought my swimsuit - we all had a real good time, however I truly don’t think that I’d ever cheated my Queen, but certainly some kind of sexual attraction was present.
Another memory is about my neighbors in the development  that Deckers was renting for me, had a Jacuzzi in their backyard and had a party almost every night and at the end of it they all used to go bare naked in the Jacuzzi that I could very easily see from the window of my bathroom…..
I can’t say the number of hours I was in my bathroom almost every night to spy on them (or whenever they were using it) all I can say is that I was glad not to have had anyone at my place for dinner ……anyone would have  soaked with pee their underwear waiting for that only one bathroom!

Point three .I have very vague memories of my time working at TEVA and all of them are unpleasant to me, I remember being present at presentation meetings to introduce me to the entire TEVA team (no idea of the reason why I was there, or about what to say), then participating to a meeting where several sketch drawings of new models for the next collection were shown to the entire team (no idea of what to think and say) My Queen told me more than once that my TEVA business plan was used for two years after I had left, but I have zero memory to ever have written any business  plan. Since luckily I still receive marketing emails of all the Deckers brands it’s now my understanding that there’s been a pretty heavy product cannibalization of TEVA products and styles from several of the other brands in the Deckers group, that if I was still there, this would NEVER have happened, I saw the original TEVA style in few other product lines of brands in the Deckers brands portfolio which surely did eat away sales from TEVA, no matter if such sales were in seasons when TEVA sales are pretty much dead (I bet this was the internal "selling pitch").
This certainly could never happen unless it was done behind my back…..if I was still working there. I truly don’t know how this could ever happen, in my mind there must have been several people who were both focused on something else (at TEVA) or focused to make some “easy money” stealing the product that put TEVA in the market to stay.
I also remember a party at Oprah’s house where I was very impressed by the very high quality/price of the cars the participants were driving, I truly felt like a bum with my Jeep Cherokee.
At this party – aside from me drinking at least a gallon of champagne – someone from the Kennedy family gave a talk to the participants from the home’s balcony, but I have no memory of what this very important man may have said.
But let me now try to give a synopsis of these movies that are really all about the (still totally unknown) powers/abilities of our brain. As always I invite you to make comments at the bottom of this post – that I’m proud to say it has the trailers for each and every movie – use the messaging tool at the end of the column on the right-hand-side and – of course – if you like this post and the very many before.

Inception: Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a thief with the rare ability to enter people's dreams and steal their secrets from their subconscious. His skill has made him a hot commodity in the world of corporate espionage but has also cost him everything he loves. Cobb gets a chance at redemption when he is offered a seemingly impossible task: Plant an idea in someone's mind. If he succeeds, it will be the perfect crime, but a dangerous enemy anticipates Cobb's every move. : Inception ending: Christopher Nolan finally discusses the meaning behind that spinning top. Christopher Nolan has discussed the controversial and ambiguous ending to his film Inception, which saw a spinning top rotating and wobbling a little before cutting to black.

Talk about the people who thought to write the script of this movie, truly sick and maybe even on heavy drugs! Basically everything had started during WWII when the Nazis tried to create the perfect soldier who is a man with mental (the brain again) capacities that can both influence the minds of other people or even kill others by being able to make matter move, so now the story is that the USA has created a vast program to own the people with such mental capacities (who escaped to the USA at the end of the war and gave birth to children with the same mental capacities) and we try to both train and control such marvels who can be used to pretty much win every type of war and influence people at all levels to do what we want them to do.
Well in the end these marvels discover that what they are all injected with a serum to fix their unbelievable abilities makes them all die, unless they receive  another injection of an antidote that stops their blood to transform into a poison, when these marvels/monsters decide to take down this organization – where its head is a marvel himself too.

The butterfly effect 2: When Nick Larson (Eric Lively) loses his beautiful girlfriend, Julie Miller (Erica Durance), in an accident, his successful career and happy life are shattered. Struggling to carry on and wracked by guilt, Nick eventually discovers that he can travel into the past, and he uses this ability to prevent Julie from dying. Unfortunately, Nick's time-altering actions drastically affect the future in tragic ways. Can Nick save Julie without causing catastrophic results? But something evil is within her…..

Way more than not recommended, this movie is more upsetting and incredible in the story it tells, this guy basically has a devastating car accident where his very beloved girlfriend dies, as well as his dear friends – a couple too – and somehow he discovers that by looking at photos of the past he can find himself there, in that past, with the knowledge of what will happen sometimes in the future, this makes him jump in the past several times, but each time he finds himself more and more distant from his life of perfection, filled with love.
Bottom line I watched it only because I had bought in on eBay for $1.30 (including shipping) and even more because watching its trailer totally fooled me.
In other words I really got caught into buying something that I wouldn’t even give as a gift to someone I hate….this is how much I don’t like it, in addition I cannot gift it to anyone else, simply because I don’t hate anybody ….. yet J

The source code: Derek Frost is a guy whose wallet was returned to him as he left the train he was on before it exploded – killing everyone in/on it. He deliberately left his wallet there so it would be assumed that he died on board. Stevens figures this out and Frost is arrested before he can use his next bomb. Not content with the fact that everyone on the train died for nothing, Stevens convinces Goodwin to send him into the Source Code one last time and disconnect his life support after that. In the Source Code, Stevens deactivates the bomb and handcuffs Frost to a pole. He calls the cops on Frost and lets them know where the next bomb is. He then sends a text message to Goodwin. Stevens's life support is deactivated, but he continues to live on in the Source Code as he boards the train with Cristina. Goodwin hears about an attempted bombing on a commuter train being thwarted just as she receives the text from Stevens. Sure enough, the text says that she will get the news. Goodwin remembers everything as she looks down on Steven’s disfigured body. The text says that someday Stevens will be sent back into the Source Code for another mission.

WOW talk about totally futuristic dream with eyes open, this is the story about an already dead helicopter pilot whose brain is used to perform anti-terrorism measures  in our trains and towns (Chicago in this case) this dead pilot keeps re-living again and again (maybe 3 times) being on a train headed to the town of Chicago that explode killing everyone on board, his assignment is to both find where the bomb is and take into custody the bomber himself, what happens at the end is that the pilot remains alive even when his “plug gets pulled” this story is not only very intriguing but it’s very romantic too, in fact every time he’s sent back on the train (that will explode unless he doesn’t complete his mission) he meets a beautiful woman whom he tries to save from sure death. In the end you see them both on the same train – that won’t explode anymore – with the understanding that their lives are all open in front of them., at the very end of this movie – in the special features – you get a lesson about the mysterious ways our brain works in certain situations and the way our Army has been using this knowledge to make our soldiers like “real machine guns”. Bottom line - through all of this accumulated knowledge - I believe that the Army psychologists may know more than the ones we see in hospitals, or in their own studios.

Push: After his father, an assassin, is brutally murdered, Nick Gant (Chris Evans) vows revenge on Division, the covert government agency that dabbles in psychic warfare and experimental drugs. Hiding in Hong Kong's underworld, Nick assembles a band of rogue psychics dedicated to destroying Division. Together with Cassie (Dakota Fanning), and a group of teenagers’ clairvoyant, Nick goes in search of a missing girl and a stolen suitcase that could be the key to accomplishing their mutual goal.

The best and most interesting part of this movie is that it’s filmed in the real Hong Kong (at least I believe) Priscilla Yang is actually a very good friend, former colleague at Gore, stationed in that very town in her office and after many years I tried to send an email to her – crossing my fingers that she’s still working there and I can say that she lives and works in Hong Kong, she’s still with Gore and could give some updates to me in reference to Gore people who not only used to work with me on the same projects but who were my good friends too, one of them – to my great shock -  is about to move with his family in the far east too (not sure which country though), I’m planning to keep this contact to a good level because Priscilla and I became close friends when she came to Verona, Italy for a pretty important Gore meeting that had employees come from all over the world (not just European as usual).
Well, I asked already to have few pictures of Hong Kong emailed to me already and once I’ll receive them, ho my…..!!! I can’t imagine the hundreds of questions I’ll ask………

Anyway this push movie has strong imaginary characters and very good special effects (imagine in Hong Kong!!!)I therefore can only recommend it! See if you can watch it drinking yerba mate tea (rather than the normal very hard alcohol).

May I please ask to my readers to put the comments they think it appropriate for what you read (and help you think) and send messages to me about any question you may have?
