This is a
pretty funny movie that’s basically a good portrait of modern people’s addiction
to whatever they watch on TV, people not only believe that all that’s seen on
TV must be true, but they also want it, either to do or to have.
This Ed is
basically a “nothing loser” who by some very weird process based on luck is
chosen as the one who’s going to be put on TV in a 24/7 show about his life (both private and normal) thinking that by displaying what
someone does all day long can interest viewers and therefore attract advertising
– and money – companies that may find interest in pushing in their message
about their products.
What I like
in this stupid movie is that there’s a woman who comes up with the idea of
putting someone on a 24/7 show and the management of the TV channel who
initially find the concept of such a show to switch to total support as soon as
they see money coming in from advertisers and the passion to this show coming from
the entire community of its viewers.
Once again
I find it pitiful to see that the movie business (with all of its actors) makes money by showing on screen how our
society has gotten so badly addicted to whatever goes on the TV screen and that
it watches whatever is shown even on a 24 hours basis.
While I can
say that this is truly a hilarious movie (good actors’ choice) but with a somewhat sad message about how we’ve
become.
