This is a movie that shall be put in the "horror
movies" category, because if anything that's portrayed (with good actors) in
it shows a possible reality about the (devilish) management and strong
influence of trials in courts through the composition of the jury.
It's really amazing how the modern communication
technologies (internet, cameras, radio frequencies) allow each of us to be
under constant control from those who access these resources.
In fact this movie is about how of the money gives immense
powers to those who have it, to the point that they can affect the result of
any trial about anything, this movie is in fact about our constitutionally
protected freedom to have arms (or in this movie, sophisticated and modern
assault weapons, normally made for the military).
In fact given that a crazy man killed a dozen of colleagues
where he used to be employed and then fired, used an automatic machine gun, the
trial was about this very constitutional freedom that if taken away or just
reduced could have resulted in a loss of billions in incomes and profits by the
entire gun industry.
What I liked the most in this movie is the way the leaders
of each of the 2 groups in charge of the composition of the civil jury is that
- no matter the sophistication of the tools used - the decision about who
should be part of the jury, came down to what I call "gut feeling".
This to me is the important and hidden message given by this
movie, or that no matter how sophisticated are the tools you use, it's only
your human intelligence and sensitivity with experience that can make any
decision become the right decision.
This is what my (injured) mind had me understand of this
horror movie that I advise my readers to watch alone too, there's truly nothing
to laugh about it, my only advice is to have strong alcohol when watching it (best not to mention my Irish whiskey collection).
